Nationalism refers to the a belief that places your loyalty in the nation state you have citizenship within, ahead of other possible groupings such as religion, ethnicity, social class or the humanity in a general sense. Nationalism is usually racially exclusionary, as nation states require assimilating various cultural groups towards one cultural identity, usually that of the dominant ethnic group within a certain territory, as well as barring others from entering.
