BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. It refers to emerging national economies and an economic block that is determined to end their dependency on the US dollar. It controls a majority of the world’s energy supplies, and some 37 percent of global GDP, more than the US-led G7.
